The presence of bonsai wahong Premna serratifolia at an international exhibition event invited the amazement from the world's master of bonsai. The peculiarity of this bonsai lies in an incredibly natural jin shari—peeled off bark—so that it gives out an old impression. Once, the plant was hardly interest anyone because of the relatively immense leaves. Nevertheless, after Robert Steven fell in love with this plant that usually lives at a coastal area, the appearance of the plant looks different. He routinely prunes it so that the leaves get smaller, 2 mm in size. In that way, wahong is qualified enough as a prospective bonsai. In addition, wahong is more sturdy and shock resistant than santigi. In only 4 years, the prospective bonsai tree will have been able to form a perfect bonsai, imagine of santigi that takes 8 years time.
